perfect Aug 26, 2009 I use the Tarot, mostly for entertainment, so when looking for a Tarot book, I had a few tough demands. The book had to be very in depth, and not ambiguous. The book had to focus on the Rider-Waite deck. The book had to be good for beginners, and the book had to be pretty inexpensive. This book met all of my demands very well. I enjoy using the tarot, and so far all of my readings have been very accurate. I strongly suggest this as a reference to any beginner.
The best Tarot book Aug 24, 2009 I love this book and even wore out my copy and had to buy another. It is the best companion book to go with the Waite Tarot cards. It shows you how to lay out the cards and the significance of each card in each position. I learned to read the cards quickly with this book.
Not the greatest May 15, 2009 I found the printing hard to read, and the illustrations in the paperback were very poor. The description for each card is fair for the Major Arcana, but for the Minor Arcana it simply repeats what anyone can see on the card. (Or could see, if the illustrations were better.) The divinatory meanings seem mostly derivative of Waite. There are many better books out there, IMO.
A Modern Classic Sep 01, 2008 This was my first tarot book, and I still find it useful. It runs the gamut from genuine mysticism to "gypsy" fortune telling keywords. There is Kabbalah and numerology and a whole lot more. The illustrations are from the Rider-Waite deck, AKA Waite-Smith. My only complaint is that the card images are badly printed, very dark, so that some of the symbols are lost in the mirk. You definately need your own copy of the Rider-Waite deck in order to use this book.
Great book for beginners Jun 23, 2008 I bought this book out of interest when I bought my first set of cards, very good book for those starting out.
